Gifts to College of Public Service contribute to...
This fund supports the delivery of experiential learning opportunities for students, supplementing classroom learning and providing leadership and networking opportunities that translate into productive careers as public servants.
At the heart of the UCCS College of Public Service, our students are driven by a deep commitment to serve and strengthen local communities. Grounded in compassion, collaboration, and real-world experience, they’re preparing to lead in public administration, criminal justice, social work, and more — tackling society’s toughest challenges with integrity and heart. Your generous support on this Giving Day fuels their journey, expands opportunities for hands-on learning, and ensures these emerging public servants have the resources they need to make a lasting impact for all of us.
- Your donation provides stipends for travel and other expenses to help ensure that opportunities are accessible to all students regardless of their financial status and mitigate the financial hardship students experience by devoting time and resources to practicum placements without compensation. Social Work students complete over 60,000 hours in practicum placements with community partners. While partner agencies and organizations provide a vital role through supervision and mentoring of students, most are not able to pay students for the work they perform.
- Donor generosity makes it possible to help cover expenses for Public Administration graduate students without federal government experience on supervised travel to Washington DC. Through first-person visits and discussions with government representatives and leading policy experts, students gain unique insights into the ideas shaping contemporary American national security. The packed schedules included briefings of the House Armed Services Committee, meetings at the US Department of State, Pentagon, and National Security Council and tours of the US Supreme Court, National Mall, Library of Congress, and US Capitol Building as well as recognized and respected think tanks. Students have found these trips to be a life-changing experience.
- Your support sends students to regional and national mock trial and American Criminal Justice Association (ACJA) club competitions for crime scene investigation, physical agility, academic training, firearms, and academic research poster display and presentation.
The UCCS College of Public Service empowers students to lead with purpose and give back in meaningful ways. From supporting vulnerable neighbors to strengthening public safety and community leadership, our students are making a difference every day.
