First-Generation Student Support Fund

The purpose of this fund is to enrich first-generation college students' experience at UCCS. With over 3,000 students (28%) at UCCS identifying as first-generation college students, the First2Go Program is dedicated to recognizing, supporting, and celebrating the journeys of first-generation students. You’re investing in students creating change in their communities and transforming the possibilities of their lives.

Every donation directly impacts students by:

· Expanding community building opportunities through curated events.

· Covering costs to keep skill-building workshops free and accessible.

· Contributing to funding for peer mentorship.

· Strengthening the capacity to support students with professional development through conferences, symposiums, and lessening fees for admittance tests such as the LSAT. With your gift, you can help enrich first-generation students’ experience at UCCS!

Funds directly support the First-Generation College Student Celebration- a weeklong celebration featuring alumni networking, financial and career coaching, an advocacy workshop, a community dinner, and more! Along with this, the First-Generation Graduation Celebrations are an opportunity for students and their families to celebrate their achievements throughout their college journey. Donor support also supports the First2Go Pathways Program- a program designed to enhance and supplement our efforts supporting first-generation students at every step of their higher education journey. The three pathways we plan to implement starting in fall 2026, include First2Go Beginnings, First2Go Explorers, and First2Go Graduates. First2Go Beginnings is designed for first year and transfer first time students at UCCS. The focus is on establishing community at UCCS, building academic confidence, and financial literacy. First2Go Explorers is designed for continuing students, typically in year two through three. The focus is on leadership development, career insights, and continuing to build academic confidence through application. First2Go Graduates is designed for students completing their degree(s) at UCCS. The focus is on career preparedness, financial management, and celebration. a variety of other initiatives that support student success, community, and belonging at UCCS.
